UNION UNIVERSITY
IT BEGAN WITH CONFETTI
2024 signaled the start of a new movement in Union athletics. What started as an SGA committee turned into a student led organization, specializing in student engagement surrounding athletic atmosphere. A campus wide naming competition was held and the student section was formally branded for the firs time in Union history. As the 'Bulldog Blitz' was formed, a brand was established with new logos and social media presence. While there was no budget to begin the season, students and alumni came together to gain the support of local businesses who sponsored eight theme night games. For the first time, a movement was created by students to build a bond between athletes and non-athletes and in one season alone, Union's basketball attendance went from empty to third in the conference. Multiple games were packed with nearly 1,000 fans. The Blitz looks to replace its original leaders as a structure is now in place for the organization to last for years to come. Through wild ideas, creative risks, energetic fans, behind-the-scenes planning & logistics, and lots of smoke and confetti, a new chapter has been formed in Union athletics.
